Recover your Spotify sign-in
Spotify may recognize you through an email and password, a phone number, or another login provider. A password reset helps only when it matches the account you actually use. If signing in opens an empty library or the wrong subscription, pause before creating a new account: you may have chosen a different identity.
Work only with your own account and email addresses. If the missing credential belongs to Apple or Google, start with account recovery for those providers. Recovering Spotify's password does not reset the password for a provider that handles your sign-in.
1. Identify the email or method you used
Spotify's login-help article suggests trying possible email addresses you own in the official password-reset form. Spotify sends a reset message only to an address registered with it. Check personal addresses, older addresses you still control, and account records rather than guessing someone else's email.
Look for Spotify receipts or account messages in your own mailboxes. They can help you identify the address, but a billing notification does not necessarily tell you which login button you used. A family-plan invitation and your personal Spotify account can also involve different people and addresses.
If an app remains signed in, use that access to inspect the account rather than immediately signing out. Note the account identity and current login methods. An open session is especially useful when several household members use Spotify on the same computer or shared speaker.
2. Reset a Spotify password when that is the right route
Follow the reset link in Spotify's official login guidance. Enter the account email or username requested by the form, then open the message in the corresponding mailbox. If it does not arrive, check spam and mail rules, and make sure the address you supplied belongs to the intended Spotify account.
Complete the reset with a password unique to Spotify. Return to the original sign-in screen and use the same account identifier. If the library is still unfamiliar, do not keep changing passwords at random. Compare the identity you recovered with the account that held your playlists.
A password manager may offer a saved Spotify entry for an older account. Inspect the saved username before replacing its password. Keeping distinct records for two legitimate accounts is safer than overwriting the only clue to the one you are trying to find.
3. Check another login provider that is already connected
Spotify's login-method documentation explains that the account's Current login methods section lists the ways it can be accessed. Use a method already associated with that account. Choosing a provider merely because it appears on the sign-in screen can lead to another account instead.
If you used Apple, consider whether Hide My Email supplied a relay address. If you used Google, recover the correct Google identity. For an older Facebook-based setup, rely on the methods Spotify currently lists for your account; the existence of an old tutorial does not mean every method can still be newly added.
Once signed in, Spotify lets you manage supported login methods from the account page. Test a replacement before removing a method you rely on. A login method's availability and the ability to add it are separate questions, so read the current options rather than assuming a removed method can always be restored.
If you cannot access any connected method or its recovery email, use Spotify's official support route from its login-help page. Support must establish which account is yours. Do not pay someone who claims a public playlist link is enough to take control of it.
When the account seems to have changed
Unexpected listening activity, altered details, or a password you did not change deserve a security check. Open Spotify directly, recover the intended identity, and review the account's available session and connected-app controls. Protect the email or external provider used to reset access as well.
Do not follow an urgent message asking you to send your password to preserve a playlist. Account-support conversations should stay in Spotify's official channels. Record the change you observed and its approximate time, but keep private reset links and codes out of public posts.
After you regain access
Check that your library and account details belong to the expected profile. Store the account email alongside a note of the working login method. That note is particularly helpful if your everyday sign-in uses a provider button rather than a Spotify password.
Login.com's Spotify access guide helps you return to the normal sign-in route after recovery. Review the supported methods while you still have access and keep an independent way to recover the mailbox or provider behind them. A second login option is useful only if you can actually reach it.
